Company History


Cromptons originated in 1869 when Thomas Crompton commenced trading, producing his own range of ovens.

Progressing into galvanised ware for which they won an award at the substantial Industrial Fare in Christchurch in 1895.

Time saw the company progress into plumbing as a plumbers merchant.

The Cromptons family traded a significant 100 years and three generations, being Thomas, son William and grandson Maurice, finally selling the family shareholding in 1969.

Many will recognise the Cromptons name from their plumbing merchant and retail days, now Mico Plumbing.
